Artwork
The artwork that is the background on this website is Kanagawa-juku (神奈川宿), the fourth in a series of ukiyo-e woodblock prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重, 1797-1858) known as The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō (東海道五十三次). The setting of Kanagawa-juku is in present-day Yokohama, in the Kanto Region (not in Tohoku).
Tohoku or Tōhoku?
The correct Romanization of 東北 is "Tōhoku", but in order to make sure that search engines can pick up this website and its content, we have used 'Tohoku'.
